Eye contact is a great thing. One of my life axioms is “I don’t give flowers to gravestones.” So, when I have a nice thought about someone, I tell them. It’s a blessing to both of us.

I’ve been using sewing method for years. I don’t remember where I learned about it or when I started using it. Perhaps I transferred it over from the crewel embroidery I sometimes did at that time. There was no Flosstube when I was first doing it. I find the rhythm of the sewing method makes this hobby so relaxing. I was distracted from stitching for years with work, family responsibilities and volunteer activities. I’m so glad to be back and so happy that people like you put together these videos to keep us motivated and inspired. Happy stitching everyone.

I frame by basting in the channels of my linen where the fold hits the foamc ore. That way I know I've got the linen straight - a bit like pulling a linen thread to get a straight line before cutting. I draw the centres on the foamcore and mark the centres of my stitching and align these. I also use the basting method when making pin cushions - baste a line around all 4 sides the same number of Xs from the last stitch on the pattern and then sew with the machine along that line. I've used bumpers to stop movement but they don't work for me. Now I Blu-Tak my bottoms to the wall and then they never move - especially useful when dusting. If I can't put a nail in the wall (pipes or cables) I'll Velcro my framed pieces using self-adhesive Velcro - super easy.

I have a couple of similar antique acorns. They were used for blind pulls - you thread the cord through the top, knot and screw back. They were very popular in the UK.

I'm more than a little late commenting on this video, but I've been catching up on all of your videos from the beginning. That has been such fun, and I think it has taken me like 3 months to do it 😁. I've worked on several things during this time, but right now I'm stitching "Good Will to Men" by Erica Michaels. My husband's aunt went to Canada in the 1950s (from the UK) on holiday to visit her sister. The story was she was eating oysters and found a pearl. She brought it back and had it mounted on a pin and wore it as either a hat pin on a lapel pin. I now have it in one of my cross stitch pin cushions. Hearing your story, I wonder if she was at a tourist destination and bought a seeded oyster. Fascinating. I have a beautiful, large, Persian rug which was stored in a barn ! It was full of these little white tubes which I think were moth cocoons. Picked them out with a pin.

Margarine is made in a factory. Nothing wrong with saturated fats - it's what our ancestors ate - seed oils including blended olive oil are rubbish for your health. Check out the Carnivore diet. I've lost 50 pounds since January - never felt better.

Since watching Katie Strachan I no longer use the sewing method - stitches aren't as neat and crisp and clean - yes it takes longer but am much happier with the look - which hopefully will be on the walls a long time so would rather stitch fewer pieces which look better than lots of projects which don't look so good.

Take iodine - everybody (practically) is short of iodine as the soil is so depleted and causes lots of thyroid issues. I take 2% of J Crow's Lugol - 2 drops per day in water - it's a great brand. Many people are short of Vitamin D as well.

Pull the knot through the open linen side - not the fabric side. It then goes through and buries itself. Have recently made some lavender drawer sachets / pillows and stuffed them with a mix of rice and lavender. The heft/feel was good and much easier than messy sawdust. Am going to try smaller grains such as cous-cous or pearl barley. If you poke the ends of the trim (wouldn't work for lace) but works for chenille yarn up into the stuffing hole and sew closed it works quite well.

Funny you should mention loaves and the community ovens - like linens went out for laundering and had to be marked by the girls who learnt their letters and numbers on samplers to identify the households' linens - I dabbled with making sourdough and the intricate patterns and identifiers is called scoring. Have just bought and sampled Himalayan Black salt - delicious - has a subtle sulphur flavour - great with eggs. Most of sea salt has micro-plastics in it, sadly.

There's a lot of evidence to say our mental health is affected by what we eat. Check out the zero to low-carb way of eating, also known as Carnivore this includes the poisonous seed oils. So many people have had huge health benefits and weight loss eating this way. There are many Carnivore Doctors and gurus on youtube as well as those who have had great success. I would urge anyone to start with Dr Ken Berry and Dr Anthony Chaffee.
